The version of Mah-jongg I learned included rules for dealing and winds such that the dealer sits in the East Wind position, and thus the Winds rotate. If you score a meld (pong or kong) with your own Wind - you double your score. If you score a meld with the Prevailing Wind (which also rotates, each 4 games) you also double your score. Thus, if you have a pong or kong with both the Prevailing Wind and your own Wind (since you are the Prevailing Wind position) you double twice! There are also a huge amount of special hands that we were taught. The way I was taught also had a different way of dealing out the tiles at the start, including a dead wall that cannot be accessed unless you score a kong. Mah-jongg apparently has a lot of regional and local variants on the rules.

Hi Asia Pacific Mahjong, can you tell me where you get this particular mahjong set? It's very nice.
